Domain Migration

What is a domain migration?  What does it entail?  What is included in this type of migration? A domain migration normally coincides with an acquisition or consolidation of domains within a company. The actual changing takes place in Active Directory where all the PCs in the domain are located. The next step is to convert all the PC names of each computer to new domain, by having each of those PCs rejoin the domain.

Contemplating changing domains, acquiring a new company, or merging existing domains from several different units. Domain migrations can be in trusted environments or outside of trusted environments. There is a need to be able to move the user from one environment to another and keep the users data intake and available after the migration.
